Oscars 2013: Adele In Jenny Packham

Singer Adele wore black for her turn on the Oscars red carpet, but there was nothing basic about her choice of gown.  Her elegant, beaded dress with three-quarter sleeves was designed by Jenny Packham.  It was the perfect dress for a winner, and win she did:  Adele took the Best Original Song Oscar for her song “Skyfall,” from the movie of the same name.  Well played!

2013 Golden Globe Awards: Ben Affleck, ‘Argo’ & ‘Homeland’ Take Big Wins

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association celebrated the accomplishments of the television and movie industry last night with the 2013 Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The 70th annual show was hosted by the undeniably funny and  charming duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Among those chosen as winners: Ben Affleck and Argo took Best Director and Best Drama for the film that captured the daring rescue of hostages in Iran during the 1970s. Affleck, who was left off the Academy Awards nominees list for Best Director, has now won two awards (the GG and the Critics’ Choice Award) for his film.

On the TV side, Showtime‘s Homeland dominated it’s categories with Best TV Show, Actress and Actor – Claire Danes and Damian Lewis earning the wins.

Other winners include Daniel Day-Lewis picked up the trophy for Best Actor in a Drama for his role in Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty’s Jessica Chastain took the top nod for Best Actress.

Christoph Waltz, Anne Hathaway, Quentin Tarantino, Don Cheadle and Lena Dunham also walked away with wins.

Jodie Foster was also honored for her work in the entertainment industry, presented to her by her good friend Robert Downey Jr. Foster made a passionate, sometimes rambling speech about carving out privacy for herself but also officially came out of the closet as a gay woman.

Oscars 2013: Seth MacFarlane & Emma Stone Announce Academy Awards Nominees (FULL LIst)

The nominees for the 85th Annual Academy Awards were announced this morning by Emma Stone & Seth MacFarlane.

Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, Argo, Life of Pi, Les Miserables and Silver Linings Playbook all grabbed multiple nominations however Tom Hooper (Les Mis) and Ben Affleck (Argo) were left out of the Best Director category even though their films were recognized for Best Motion Picture category.

The 2013 Oscars will be broadcast live Sunday, February 24th and hosted by MacFarlane.

Sandra Bullock & ‘The Hunger Games’ Shine At People’s Choice Awards 2013 – See Complete Winners List

The 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards were held in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Wednesday night with Kaley Cuoco hosting for the second year.

The 2013 PCA’s celebrated The Hunger Games with 5 wins including Fave Movie Actress & Fave Face of Heroism for star Jennifer Lawrence.

Sandra Bullock took the inaugural Humanitarian Award for her work at Warren Easton High School in New Orleans that was ravaged after Hurricane Katrina.

“I’m not at all being modest when I say I’m not doing anything compared to what they do on a daily basis,” the Oscar winner told the audience.

Christina Aguilera also took a brand new award this year – The People’s Voice Award.

Other winners included Taylor Swift, Emma Watson, Nathan Fillion, Jennifer Aniston, The Wanted & Ellen DeGeneres.

2013 Grammy Nominations – Who Made The Cut & Who Was Snubbed?

The 2013 Grammy Awards nominations were announced last night in Nashville and there are quite a few major artists left off the list year.

Taylor Swift & L L Cool J kicked things off as co-hosts of the 2013 Grammy Nominations Concert Live! at the Bridgestone Arena which brought out Adam Levine and Maroon 5, Ne-Yo, Dierks Bentley and The Band Perry taking the stage.

Leading the pack with six nominations were Jay-Z, Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, fun., Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean & Kanye West.

Those missing some Grammy love – Justin Bieber, One Direction & Nicki Minaj are just a few of the artists who aren’t going to be recognized with an award this year.

2012 American Music Awards – Full Winners List

Beliebers made it happen: Justin Bieber‘s army of fans made him the big winner at last night’s American Music Awards.  He took home three awards, including Favorite Pop/Rock Album – for Believe – Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, and Favorite Artist Of The Year.  Upon accepting his first award of the night, Bieber said:

  “This is for all the haters who thought that maybe I was just here for one or two years. I feel like I’m going to be here for a very long time.”

Newly single, the young pop star brought his mom, Pattie Mallette, as his date for the evening.  She stood on stage with her son as he accepted his second award, directing his appreciation to her, saying, “Thank you for always believing in me.”

Nicki Minaj was the only other artist to approach Bieber’s wins, scoring two awards:  Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist, and Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Album (for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded). Taylor Swift continued her domination as Favorite Country Female Artist, winning in that category for the fifth year in a row.

This year’s show featured a new category, Electronic Dance Music.  The award went to French DJ and house music producer David Guetta.

2013 People’s Choice Awards Nominees – Full List

 The 2013 People’s Choice Awards is coming up soon.  The annual event was founded in 1975 and celebrates fan favorites in entertainment:  movies, music, television and more.  Several stars gathered last Thursday to announce the nominees, including Monica Potter, Sophia Bush, Jason Aldean, Anthony Anderson, Jason O’Mara, and Casey Wilson.

The Men Of ‘Skyfall’: Dashing and Debonair (Pics)

I can’t think of anything more appropriate to wear to a 007 event than a classic tuxedo.  Skyfall‘s male cast members – Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes – did not disappoint at the movie’s world premiere last night at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Skyfall is the 23rd film in the James Bond franchise.   Daniel Craig stars in his third turn as Bond, opposite Javier Bardem’s villain, cyberterrorist Raul Silva. Its title song, “Skyfall,” was performed and co-written by Adele; the track skyrocketed to the number one spot in iTunes’ UK store just ten hours after it was released on October 5.

Singer Adele Welcomes A Baby Boy

Adele is rolling in the joy!  British newspapers are reporting that the singer has given birth to her first child, a baby boy.  Sources say that she and her partner, Simon Konecki, are “ecstatic at their new arrival,” who was born last week.

The Daily Mail, however, notes that Adele’s spokesperson declined to provide any comment on the story.

Adele and Konecki, who is the founder of the environmental charity Life Water, began dating in January 2012, and she announced her pregnancy in June.   He has one other child, a daughter, from his previous marriage to stylist Clary Fisher.

Congratulations to the family!
